Filtration of liquids and oils

Combined filter tanks are used to clean the process emulsions and oils, they also supply the machine with clean emulsion or oil and are also equipped with high-performance pumps for machine cooling. Tanks can be equipped with a range of filter elements. The basic element of the combined tanks is the filter module AFN – P.

The tanks are manufactured according to the customer’s requirements, we can supply a part of the filtration system, for example a filtration tank or only the filtration flow modules or the whole set.

General description of operation

In the case of a basic filter tank assembly, where the main filter element is the AFN-P filter module, the process is as follows:

  1. The contaminated emulsion enters the filter module using transport pumps.
  2. The filter paper captures the dirt and solid particles that have been transported into the module by the transport
    pumps.
  3. The trapped dirt and particles form a layer on the surface of the filter paper, which subsequently traps even smaller particles by settling
  4. The clean emulsion continues to the main tank, which is usually located under the filter module.
  5. The emulsion is further conveyed to the machine through pumps (high pressure, low pressure, transport).
  6. When dirt forms a thick layer on the surface of the paper, the level of the emulsion gets high and the sensor switches on.
    emulsion level check and unwind the paper. This causes the level to drop again and the process repeats itself over and over again.

The filtration station does not have to be equipped with only one filter element, the station can be equipped with a magnetic separator, a filter for internal cooling, hydrocyclones, and other elements that increase the efficiency of the whole filtration setup.

Individual tank configuration

In the adjacent picture you can see the possibilities of the central filtration station. It is always necessary to understand what the final and desired result of the filtration should be and on this basis we should proceed further.

One of the basic parameters is the total flow rate of the entire system. If we need to cool several sections in the machine at the same time, it is important to count these sections correctly to get the necessary and important flow rate of the whole system. Based on this information, we then go further and select the volume of the filter tank.

If we know the flow rate and have selected the tank capacity, we can start with the actual configuration, selecting pumps, control valves, the filter for the central cooling, the actual tempering of the entire cycle and other elements.
